i used Tetra: Easy Strips-so yes testing strips.

i started a new tank....& tested the water....total alkalinity comes up to undesirable...its at 40KH....

any suggestions on how to improve it. everything else is GOOD.

Ah it wondered if it was stress. Only reason my husband grabbed them was for the picture . But I'll keep yalls advice in mind. I don't want him getting any sicker:(. I'm finishing up treatment until his eye is 100% back to normality.

update: Squishy (GSP) is doing better as far as his eye issue. I posted earlier this week about. The Triple Sulfa was working..... but can anyone tell me what this stuff is.......on his skin....blackish-grayish stuff...hopefully the pictures help// its especially visible on the sides of his mouth....

UPDATE: :) We finally got a new tank for the GSP's. & we went ahead and started adding salt. SG at 1.002 at the moment. We found this very neat Fish store, where the employee's are like fish experts! So they recommended I use Triple Sulfa (anti-bacterial) & so far so GOOD! My sick GSP is al...

okay, so i need to start converting my freshwater into brackish water......i read in the post about the GSP's that I guess pure water is 1.000 SG or whatever.....and its good start off by increasing .002 SG per week or per 2 weeks??? I also read that 1cup of salt per 5 G of water, will raise the SG ...

what are the con's of keeping the fish in a smaller tank...like a 20 or 30G tank?

since it takes them a while to actually grow...my fish are under 2'

ah, this is quite helpful. I had the same question. I am going to start the change over to saltwater with my fish as well. & was clueless!:)
