Read this before posting!!

Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.

1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.

2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.

3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)

4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.

5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.

We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.

While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.

Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

Alright GSP's guru's I need some assistance please!! :)

1. I have added some aquarium salt to my tank, I barely got my fish & was told there saltwater fish, so I am making the transition slowly.....
2. 50G tank currently: with 3 GoldFish, 1 AngelFish, 2 GSP's, & algae eater, 3 small crabs, & snails.......(I know were over crowded...)
3. Feed Brine Shrimp, Shrimp, & flakes. Water change was done 4 days ago....30% water change
4.Added treatment for ich, raised temperature to 84 degrees, and used finished Melafix treatment about 4 days ago...
5. A month-tank has been set up. Don't know about the types of cycling, and link isn't working....

Issue: Fish has weird white opaque stuff on right eye, we tried taking it off him, but that didn't work......

It was tough taking pictures of my GSP, so I took a small film, maybe that work's better.

Ich meds are harmful to puffers. Does your puffer have ich?

Yes, it did....but it actually went away, he had the white stuff BEFORE we started the ich meds.........

uhhhhhh....-_-, anything else you recommend besides Maracyn, because I would have to drive 1 hour to get to a store that has Maracyn...

the white stuff appeared.......somewhere between when I finished the MelaFix treatment & before using the ich treatment....

Sometimes this clears up on it's own, with good water quality. Melafix can't hurt.

It's being caused by the tanks bio load. Gsp, goldfish, angelfish etc all in a 50g. They all have different requirements for one, plus the tank is too small for 2x gsp long term

Just saw the mixed fish have been addressed on your other thread, thought it sounded very familiar lol. Sorry. That is the cause tho. Many large waterchanges until you retank fish which should be ASAP. Go for 50% daily

the eye has gotten reddish color and worse, i set up a new tank, and i already ordered maracyn. Should I use Melafix for now, since i live all the way in the middle of nowhere and melafix is the only thing available right now the fish reacts normally eats normally its just his right little eye got red i pretty much did a 100% water change to transfer them to a 15 gallon tank for now i am waiting for the water to heat up since its about 40 degrees any advises help i am going to add salt as resource for now to I'm trying to save the little fella but i need advises ill try to get the water to 1.02 sg
