Help in identifying this "thing"

Hello there, once again.

Can anyone please help me to identify this "white-hollow-tubing" things that seem to be taking over my LR?



Do i need to remove them?

Some type of macro algae. Looks like you have some serious macro algae problems in there.

upon PP mentioning that yes.. it does look very similar. There does seem to be much algae. The white patch .. I am sill looking but but don't know squat about this. It is just interesting research

I think I would go with the "algae" as well... althoug i wish it was the first one!

The LR came directly from the sea (a 30 min ride in a water container) so everything that was on it, reached my tank very much alive.
I really don´t find them to be a real problem (at least they look good, hehehehe), but if it keeps this growth rate, then it probably will become one. They are not "rigid" (as in calcium), but rather rubber-flexible like, wich makes me thing algae too.

Do you have any ideas on how to keep them controlled?

The tank is 50gl
water changes are 25% weekly
R/O water to top-up
Nitrites/Nitrates very low...

It sounds like this rock needs to be "cooked". Taking it directly from the ocean, means getting all the nasties that come with it, too.

But i also think that my wife would not be very fond of the idea...
