Do you have a leveler to see if the tank is level? That's important.
The pipe on the left, where it's entering the sump, can you add a longer piece, so it reached about 3" from the bottom of the sump? Then add rubble in there to break up the micro-bubbles.
How many chambers in that sump? Is there one for a refugium? I wish I had seen a pic of it out of the tank.
Thank you!
If I had the space, like a garage, I'd stain it over a darker color. I just prefer darker when it comes to wood but it does look pretty nice in person. It needs cleaned up a bit and like the hinges could use replacing.
I do not have a level. I'd say I'll be up Lowes later today getting whatever is needed for support so hopefully I'll remember to pick one up then. Just speaking in terms of it being level on the stand?
There is a chamber for a refugium.
Here is a photo of a view from the back, can't see these chambers from the front because of the black piece.
I was told this is the area for the refugium. There is a piece, not in this photo, that is made to hold some sort of LED light for the refugium. Also, the pipe you're talking about adding to is just above the white piece in the photo (above the bioballs). I don't plan on using the bioballs, guess that'd be the place to put the rubble?
Here is more info on the sump and another picture as well.

The black piece on top on the back left (above where the white piece is in the first photo) is where the hoses that came with the sump would hook up but he didn't use those ( I do have them). They're flexible hoses and wouldn't have allowed for use of the plumbing that has the valve. He suggested having the valve, and I believe you mentioned the valve as well.
Hope I made sense trying to explain that.
