Not an uncommon practice to put dye in the fish sadly enough. :(

True. Not totally restricted to the Solomon Islands AFAIK, but found there.

Oh, and I doubt puffers are dyed. Young Diodon spp. can be quite colorful in nature. But I'm not 100% sure, too often people have surprised me with doing stupid things.

Not specifically, just random talk at the LFS some time ago when they had a blue porcupine puffer. Not to say the blue one was dyed, but they mentioned porcs occasionally being dyed, at least before. No idea about today. In truth I am not sure if it was true :lol:.
