Yeah, as much as I really like them, I'm done keeping them. I'll stick with what I know has long-term survival in my tanks.

The live-bearers went that way decades ago. Now a number of tank-bred crosses are following suit. No matter how "desirable" some color forms may be, the resulting fish have lost the ability to survive even in controlled conditions.

Not in my fish tanks, no thank you.
What about FH's? I think they're pretty resilient for a hybrid...

Sorry, what are FH?

Hybrids are not the same as selection and line breeding of variant strains. But those hybrids which are fertile are generally line-bred to "fix" selected strains. That in-breeding and back-crossing may fix the desired trait(s), but commonly also "fixes" (makes permanent) some highly undesirable traits.

Is it true they've existed less than 20 years?

I don't like discus or flowerhorns. Nice colors, but they don't look right to me. Same as fancy goldfish, I guess. Something seems off about them - unhealthy, overdone.

So are some dog breeds. Same genetic breeding of mutations.

Nope. I don't eat meat if I don't approve of where it came from. McDonald's doesn't meet that qualification.

Through buying from sources that can account for their products.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.
