Could you please test your water for ammonia, nitrite & nitrate & post the results here?

you are right, just i dont have test kit.

can you put into a case just if it has nothing to do with water parameters.

if he isnt feeling well because of water, how would he still eats and still grows over the past 5 weeks?

the tank is not big enough no matter how much filtration i would not have temp over 26 c . puffers grow fast-fast-fast dont stunt him he needs a bigger home

that tank measure 48"x18"x18", the depth is already three times of its size.

pls again, i say it again i know how big it can grow. i question is not about the tank size. I really dont think what is wrong with putting a 6" puffer in a 65gallon tank

No one on this site is going to say you should put fish in with your mbu in such a small tank, regardless if they have raised one or not. 6" may seem small, but his bio load is not. I also agree that he is probably bored due to his tank size.

i dont think the bio load is high for my tank, because he only eats 1 market pawn per day and he isnt moving much.

65gallon is only his grow up tank.

Yikes. You don't think his bio load is too high, but you don't even have test kits, and moving around has nothing to do with how much ammonia he excretes. However, poor water quality will make him lethargic.
If you haven't been testing the water, how do yo know it's cycled? In 5 weeks the water can go from ok to deadly.

a Mbu in only a 65 gallon tank?? The bioload is through the roof. You need to move him asap. Puffers will still eat, they live to eat.

Listen to what people are telling you, dont just blow them off

+1 to all above you need to listen to theses guys. i didnt put my lineatus in a small tank when he was 2 inch , he was in a 5 foot after quarantine these guys need space please give that and in return you will get a healthy puffer

the water is not direct from tap, it came from my other tank. my fishes there has grown from 10"to 20" in the past few years, so i assumed it is cycled.

i do water change regularly for my tanks. if the water is deadly how can my mbu puffer grow from 5" to 6".

i dont think mbu puffer is hardy fish, if there is something wrong with water then he should first have cloudy eyes, and symptoms throught out his skin.

well, let me put it this way...
can you say that all physically healthy MBU puffer should be active without any exception....

please answer was the tank cycled? this could be the problem he will need 1000 gallon when mature but best to get in suitable tank sooner rather than later
