Aslo, how fast should my puffer be growing? He's only been with me for 4 months and it seems like has grown one bit.

He won't grow very much in only four months. My old GSP didn't really start to take off growth wise until I got the salt in the high-brackish range, but when he did he grew to be 5 inches long. Also, keep a sharp eye on the nitrate levels in the water; high nitrate levels can cause growth stunting in puffers.

How large is your gsp, and how big of a meal do you give him? do you just drop the whole piece into the aquarium or slice em' up? If so, how small do you slices them up to?

Balki is 2.5". Other than the shelled bivavles, I cut them in small pieces and feed him with tongs. I leave the shell on the shrimp . When his belly is slightly rounded, I take the food back out. He eats 6 days a week.
Since he's not so afraid anymore, I make the food swim away from him so he has to chase it.

I do the chasing thing when i feed him ghost shrimp too! but he gets lazy sometimes. Did you get your Balki when he was as small as 1'' because i'm finding difficulties in acquiring snails. Or should can i also feed him shelled bivalves?

Balki has gotten just a little bit bigger than when I got him, but not by much. I used to have 2, and the other one was about an inch though. I rehomed him with a lfs as a store pet.
I have trouble with the snail thing too, I'm setting up a five gallon right now to breed them.
