Getting pee'd off with my boyfriend today.. he's saying he wants to have a relaxing holiday and not go out everyday... relaxing fair enough.
But by not going out, he means not even sitting by the pool or on the beach, who stays in a hot dirty appartment on holiday with nothing to do? I don't understand?
He said he doesn't want to tire himself out like he does at home with work etc, but how is walking down some steps to be beside the pool tiring anyone out? I'm not asking to go swim with sharks.
Everyone else works and goes on holiday too and they don't sit in a room everyday
I'm not going to stay inside on a holiday, I do that every other day of my life. So I'm just going to be on my own apparently at the pool..
Great. I really cant wait for my lonely boring holiday now
and I thought I was anti-social..

Thanks, I'm so frustrated with it all. Worst of all I keep my horse there so I worry about him being caught in the middle.

I need some good calming motivational vibes here though. Gotta keep my patience, head, and be efficient. I know of 2 other past employees that still haven't been paid.

you'd have to take it up with the ministry of labour.. AND they can't take deductions off your pay without your written approval (in the case of the horse). Don't forget to include your vacation pay. The ESA has different standards for farms so research A LOT! There are exemptions for pay periods, hours worked and overtime. Min wage is just that.. unless you are on 100% commissioned sales. Research research research ... it is a THICK book but there are ppl you can call and talk to.

I really wish someone would just swoop down and give me steps of what needs to be done. That would be so much easier than guesswork and trial and error. I'm going to ask my dad to do it all with me because he's good with this stuff and it overwhelms me a little. I'm so afraid of screwing it up and pissing people off.

Found out my friend is in the hospital too. He'll be alright but I feel bad that he has to go through this.

in its simplistic form, you lodge a complaint with the ministry of labour stating that you have not been paid for work preformed. Anything that you signed when you started should be provided to them. They will then ask the employer for "proof" of payment. This includes your sign in / sign out sheets, weekly totals, deductions and canceled cheques. It is the cheques that usually gets them. If they can't produce a checque with your signature to say that you cashed it.. they will owe you the back pay.
You can also go on EI because of the duress. You are willing and able to work but can not because of the employer.
If you really want to get evil on them.. report inconsistencies to Health and Safety. Every little detail counts (circle checks on farm equipment not being done, using fertilizers without having WHIMIS training, no protective equipment when dealing with waste products.. the list goes on and on).

I'm pulling, on Sunday, an awesome 3 year old American Eskimo Dog from a shelter where he landed after his family's home burned down. We didn't have a spot for him, but no other rescue spoke for him and he's going kennel-crazy at the shelter so it was us or the final needle. So all week I've been busting my cold-infected, exhausted butt, quick-screening and working through procedures and details with a new foster home who swore they were up to the challenge. And today, they bailed on me So looks like it's gonna be 6 dogs for a while. Damnit
Anyone Ontario or NY folks here looking for a dog?

All I did today was get up super early to get my kid and went to petsmart for some snails for Bloat.

Tomorrow I think I will go adopt a cat

I'm trying to figure out how I can have another suvattii puffer. My friend at the LFS took one in with the happy thoughts that I would just take him. I was supposed to go by Tuesday and never made it, so we went yesterday. The little guy was buried in sand. Thing is, my friend really knows nothing about puffers and I don't encourage him to order them because once they get them, they tend to linger in those tiny tanks forever. People just don't buy puffers in this area ... and the poor things live for months in those tanks.
Anyway, my friend was like "you're going to take him today, aren't you?", and I'm thinking it's not like I can just put a suvattii anywhere. The only extra tank I have is one with a cracked bottom, and that would take time to repair, if it's repairable at all. I thought about moving my Vampire crabs into the tank with the crack, but I hate to uproot them as they are doing so well.
I'm scouring the classifieds to see if I can pick up a cheap tank today. I found out that the reason my friend is so eager for me to take the suvattii is because he doesn't want the manager to know he took this puffer in from someone (although I have no idea why that would be an issue).
So we will see what happens today with it.

Today I got 3 appointments all for when I'm on holiday :
1) hospital talking about operation
2) dentist
3) 3rd and final cancer injection

Damn xD still.. my gran is changing them all for when I come back.

Make sure you double check (here) the advice you get! Most LFS employees know even less about brackish than they do about SW or FW!!!

I am exhausted!! We went and got the suvattii from over at the LFS today. He's not as big as my Fred, which could mean that he's still quite young.

I ended up moving my Palembang and putting the new guy in that tank. Since my one Suvattii is "Fred" my husband thought it would be funny to have a "Barney" (as in The Flintstones), and since I usually end up naming our puffers, I thought it would be nice to let him name this one. So Barney it is. He didn't seem interested in food, but then again they were giving him live guppies and flake food! I'm probably going to have to treat for IP's because I don't trust the health of their guppies.

I also got 2 new little land crabs ... not sure what the correct name is for these little guys, but they are from Sulawesi with red shells and lovely lime green eyes. Very cute. As is typical with that shop, they aren't keeping them the way they should be kept, but again, that's typical. I've set up a more "woodsey" enclosure for them instead of more water as they had them. They aren't aquatic crabs.

Oh, and I got a surprise when I was moving some of the substrate from where I had been keeping the Vampire crabs .... I found the little baby crablette that was attached to the adult when I had them delivered a few weeks ago. I didn't think it would make it, but it must be eating something to have lived this long. I was really excited about seeing it because I thought for sure that I would probably kill it by mistake when moving the crabs into a different enclosure. So I'm happy that the little guy survived and hopefully he will grow into a big adult crab and then I will have 3 Vampire crabs!

So now I've got the one Red-Claw that I rescued from that LFS because it had no legs and would have certainly died (it molted long ago and is now back to normal again); the Matano that nearly was killed by Obie my Fahaka because I didn't realise it was still in that tank (I thought my Mbu had eaten it long ago), he lost all his appendages, but has since molted and is back to normal now too; 2 Vampire crabs (+ a teeny tiny baby crablette); and now my newest additions, the Sulawesi crabs or what Dave called "Mandarin crabs".

I can't believe I'm getting more to take care of as I'm getting older. Shouldn't I be having less to take care of?

try mixing some bbq sauce in the meat before you cook it sometime. i do this with jack daniels bbq sauce to make my own jack daniel burgers like applebees sells. they turn out really good
