I found my first shrimp child today, so I am quite satisfied. It was "only" a cherry shrimp, but still my first little baby shrimp. Besides cherry shrimps, I have Neocaridina sp. blue, which I hope to breed, and Caridina cf. babaulti var. ´stripes´, which is walking around with eggs these days (several females).

Congrats Troender!

I found my first snail eggs, now to see if they will hatch... Pond snails; so they won't be ready to be introduced to my fahaka anytime soon... hopefully I'll be getting a more lively stock of them soon! (more grown, to have more eggs and more babies!)

I'll try and breed Red Cherry Shrimps in the future but hopefully not for a long time yet because the tank that I'll be using for it is home to a cool little fiddler crab.

We have successfully bred beautiful cherry shrimp. Currently we have 2 other shrimp breeding projects going: "bumble bee" shrimp & yellow shrimp. Both are FW & related to the cherry shrimp. Not having as much luck though. Feeding shrimp wafers & the seem to like bits of vegetable (cucumber, carrot, celery are popular for us haha).

I am keeping/breeding cherries and just keeping some tiger shrimp.

Both FW and I feed them driftwood, algae wafers, and steamed cucumber.

Also....not to hijack this post or anything....but can I keep other fish with my DP? He's alone in a 5 gallon tank with about 6 large sized plants. I want to keep either a shrimp or fish in there with him. Please help!!

Most shrimp are grazers. They love grazing wood for edibles, even though they are not equipped to really eat it.

I have about 6 ghost shrimp, one flower shrimp, and several red cherry shrimp. And a mexican orange crayfish.
As far as I know, none are breeding. They live in my puffer tanks and most have so far survived predation

I don't specifically feed them. There are loads of live plants and some algae in the tanks, and I feed algae pellets to the group of panda cories in the 30 high.

I started out with cherry shrimp, and then added some bee shrimp and then got some Amano shrimp. I don't see the bee or Amano anymore, just the cherry but I've got loads of them, they are breeding nicely. I keep them in a small 50-liter tank with my Matano crab, and also some ramshorn snails. I remove some from time to time and put them in some of my other puffer tanks ... I figure if the puffers eat them, that's okay but if they happen to live and keep the tank clean, then that's a bonus. These are all freshwater by the way.

I'd like to have some other kinds of shrimp, but don't really have the space to start up another tank. Does anyone know if shrimp kill each other, or do you think my bee and Amano's just died out? I read that they will all get along together, and some will even inter-breed .... as I'm not selling mine, I don't care if they do that or not. But I just would like to see some variety in there, if that's at all possible.

AFAIK some species will eat other species if they catch them. As shrimp are grazers and like to hide you may still have your Amino shrimp just not see them. The Bee shrimp .. I have no idea.

Well I may find out soon because I am going to do an overhaul on that tank and clean it up, removing some stuff and adding a new sponge filter and new air pump soon. Right now it's a bit difficult to see what's going on in the tank, and I just don't like the way it's set up. So I think it's time for a little change-around. Maybe I will find shrimp I didn't know I still had at that time. And hopefully once I change it, I will be able to see the shrimp that are in there a little better.

Amanos do not breed at all easily in captivity, but they are fairly long-lived.

Bees are breedable.
