He sort of reminds me of a goby by his pectoral fins .... but the face doesn't look like a goby. :?

Could your loach be a baby Rainbow Loach? I've never seen one before :)

Ahh, I'm pretty sure that is a rainbow loach.

No probs :)

I honestly didn't know what it was either! Looked a bit like a weather loach with the two pairs of barbs but it was the dorsal fin that somehow tipped me off to type 'hillstream loach' into google. Got my lead from a pic in the image gallery among all the sucker varieties.

Wonder how many more little gem's like that are out there in China?

Very cute though 8)

Looks like they need a sandy substrate, cool water in the high sixties to low seventies, probably loads of O2, get to four to six inches and like to hang out in a gang. I don't know if they like soft or hard water.

I'd try them if I had a spare 30g I could keep coolish. Mine seem to be full of puffers :lol:

If I do find some here I might try some with my two fancy goldies, unless they nip, so maybe not. Short finned goldies, yes I would.

Seems that 'Loaches.com' is just like us but not many puffers. Wierd or what? :lol:

Seriously, nice one if anyone from there reads here :)

Wonder what Fishbase says about them?

I wondered why something was niggling me:-

They look a bit like the 'Chequered Darter' group from Canada :shock:

Only short barbules on those but I'm running on memory.

Heh, so, this little guy. I added him to my 50g tank, with my other community fish, and my three yoyo loaches. Apparently the rainbow fits right in, swimming with the group and interacting. It's pretty funny/cute to see my large yoyo leading the two smaller yoyos, and the rainbow around the tank.

See, even different species see their differences and get along. If only people could be more like fish. :P
