Re: nother question about dps
Rachy, are you at all close to Ferrybridge Aquatics? We were there today and they had a few different kinds of food for fry. Just thought I'd mention it, in case you were close to there.

Re: nother question about dps
Well listen, it's not really that close to us either, about an hours drive .... but if you need something, I could always go up and get it and then post it to you. I am always willing to help a fellow puffer lover. So if your banana worm culture doesn't work, just let me know and I can get something from Ferrybridge and send it on to you.
May I ask what town you're in, just so I have an idea where you are (if you don't mind me asking that is)?

Re: nother question about dps
babies are still doing well
every day finding more eggs and babies in the main tank. so far have found 1 dead baby tho
not sure why, but i guess i should expect some of them not to make it shouldnt i! the oldest are 10 days old now
eating well, im giving them frozen baby brine shrimp, and now banana worms aswell
.
theyre in a small tank, all it has in is a couple of moss balls and some riccia for them, its bare bottomed etc...does anyone have any idea how i can clean the bottom of the tank? had a try 2nite with a largeish pipette, but didnt manage very well lol. i just wanna get rid of ll the rubbish thats on the bottom, but if i use siphon like i normally would, its gonna suck the tiddlers up isnt it

Re: nother question about dps
That's excellent that you're still finding eggs, and that your babies are getting older. And yes, I would think finding a few dead ones is going to be normal, that's why they lay so many, because some are just not going to make it.
You could try putting some sort of stocking or netting over the siphon so it doesn't suck up the babies, but I'm not sure what would be big enough to allow dirt to get through and yet not suck up the small ones.

Updates?
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Re: nother question about dps
I was looking at my Dwarf puffers today, I've got 2 really big ones in my tank (along with the others that are regular size) .... I wish they'd make babies! You are so fortunate to have experienced baby puffers. The only babies I get to see are the endless amounts of Endlers that seem to be taking over my tank!!

Re: nother question about dps
well ive just done their 1st wc lol
left it a bit long really, but was so scared of hurting them lol! ive just used the syphon as i normally would, then got all the babies that i sucked up back out of the bucket with a pippette
they all look fine so hopefully wasnt 2 traumatic for them lol!! some more moss has come for their tank 2day, cos ive seen they likt 2 hide + play in it
guess they also eat from it aswell. the bigger babies are around 5mm long now (including tails lol!) bout 5 times bigger than when they 1st hatched

you can stretch a piece of nylon stocking over the intake end of your syphon, & fasten it with a rubber band to prevent the baby fish from being sucked up by the syphonrachy wrote:well ive just done their 1st wc lolleft it a bit long really, but was so scared of hurting them lol! ive just used the syphon as i normally would, then got all the babies that i sucked up back out of the bucket with a pippette
