I got my Bubba back!

Post by Myaj »

Awww, he's so cute.

Its not that he went anywhere, but for the last year Bubba (my turgidus) has been in the lower spot of a dual stand. So he was always at ankle height and I rarely saw him other than when I got down on hands and knees to feed him. He rarely came out in the open, often times you'd just barely see his nose or an eye through a gap in the driftwood.

Last weekend, I finally got around to re-arranging the tanks. Frank, my figure 8, had passed away a few months ago, so his 29 gallon tank was empty other than 3 little male endlers. So after everything was rearranged, the endlers are in a 2 gallon and Bubba got the disinfected/cleaned 29 gallon tank.. and he's now back on top of my dresser at eye level.

The first few days he was nervous and hiding.. new view, new tank layout. Last Thursday Ryan walked into the room to see him fully puffed up, scared the crap out of him. We've never seen him puff before, ever. Didn't seem stressed, just showing off.

I went camping for a few days with my horse, and came home last night after Bub's tank lights were already out. This morning when I got up and stopped by his tank to say good morning, the little buggar was running up and down the glass, wiggling all over, so happy to see me :) He's such a little goofball, and I forgot how much I missed having him greet me at the glass when I get up, hehe. Its gonna be nice to have my little lurker back where I can easily see him.

No photos yet, I'm not entirely satisfied with the driftwood layout. I had it all set up perfect and when trying to wedge in a big anubias barteri I messed it up.

Lets just say LOTS of driftwood and a fair amount of anubias and crypts, and one big old onion plant ;) I'll try to set it settled and some photos tonight.

Maybe that's why I never really appreciated "Beetlejuice". He was allways in the bottom tank.

You know Jeni, I think that has a lot to do with it. He really didn't do much when he was down lower with no view.

Well, heck, he doesn't do much with a good view either, other than the initial morning "greeting". After that he goes back to his caves/driftwood and you don't really see much of him. But its just too cute to see him out in the open begging for attention, a great way to start the day :)

I figure I'll ask in your thread--how's things going over there?

That's good! I'm glad you moved!

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

That's why I miss Hufflepuff so. :crying2: This extatic welcome every time you pass its tank. Except if you feed them freeze dried krill, of course.
I think this very happy greetings really is a turgidus thing. Not all, though. My Tiger is such a wimp. He hides all the time at daytime (but sometimes surprises me by showing interest in me at night). Only at feeding time he shows his cute little butt. It's not like he comes up to beg. He is in hiding until the food sinks against the bottom. Then he comes out in an extreme speed, snatches the food, and is gone in about a second, all together. Wow, he is quick! He really is very, very unlike Hufflepuff when it comes to his personality. It's difficult to believe they are of the same species, even though they look very much the same. Puffers... :D

I'm really glad to hear things are going fine, both with your turgidus, but mostly with you. I've been thinking about you! :D

I don't think she moved, I think her BF is doing what he needs, to stay well.
