Hey Guys
II've had to move all my fish to a 30l as I stupidly forgot to turn the heater off and it blew up
They where all fine at first but I just noticed a couple of the fish at the surface breathing heavily
The 30l has a filter with a spray stick that's been blowing/bubble/oxygen into it which I thought would be enough. I've now added the long bubble spray thing that sits at the bottom of the large tank to the 30l
I've just found Bollo my SAP laying on the plants at the top of the tank right at the water surface, he's breathing but not moving!
There's def something wrong with him as he let me touch him, I moved him so his head wasn't out of the water. His little fins on his sides near his gills are still moving
I pushed him gently and he was floating round with out trying to correct himself at first but then he riggled a little and is now resting on a plant
He doesn't look good, I take it he's suffering from the shock of the move
The 30l had just had a 90% water change before I moved them all
I would've left them all in the large tank but the heater on the 30l is only a 50w so wouldn't have been able to heat the big tank
Oh he's just gone for a quick swim to one end of the tank and back and is now resting on the plants again, he seems very dosile
He hasn't gone a pale colour, his colours are still very dark
I'm just hoping he survives until tomorrow so I can get him back in the large tank
Is there anything you think I should do?
Bollo my SAP is breathing buy not moving!

Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.
1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.
2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.
3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)
4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.
5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.
We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.
While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.
Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

maybe you could turn up the heat in your house, and put all the fish back in the big tank.
Grant me the serenity to accept that I can't take every puffer home;
The courage to say no to those big eyes looking back at me;
And the wisdom to do every thing I can for the ones that I have.

I took the bubble strip out of the 30l again and 30mins later Bollo was doing the same thing again
The current from the filter was pushing him round and he was'nt trying to correct himself again
My Blue Betta who Bollo nips if he comes within an inch of his head even came over to have a look at Bollo and gave Bollo a nip and then quickly swam away (made me laugh for a sec)
I quickly got the bubble strip out of the big tank and put it back into the 30l, I then cupped Bollo in my hand and fingers and held him over the bubbles for about 15 mins, slowly he started to come to life
His eye's started to react and hw gently started to wiggle so I let him go and he swam to the bottom and layed on the gravel for a couple of minutes
He's now laying on the bubble strip
I cannot believe the oxygen in the water runs out so quickly, the other fish seem ok!

Just how cold is your place? If the temperature is above 65, it would take a LONG time for the temperature being that low to effect the health of your fish, weeks to months for most common tropical fish.
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.

I keep my tank at 80fNick wrote:Just how cold is your place? If the temperature is above 65, it would take a LONG time for the temperature being that low to effect the health of your fish, weeks to months for most common tropical fish.
when I first got the tank I did the same thing (you'd think I would've learnt the first time), then the temp went down to 50f!
I was worried this would happen again so I put them all in my betta's tank and put the betta in a floating baby box
The temp on the large tank only fell to 70f in the end and I founf 2 tiny baby Guppy's in there in the morning who survived the night
It can get very cold here so I didn't want to take the chance
All the fish are now back in the large rearranged tank and are loving the extra space and new layout, it's really nice to see them wizzing round their new gaff doing loop the loops and playing in the bubble spray

Yay!
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."
