I keep seeing older ones now and they are so much lighter....

guess it pays to be dark when you're a baby... easier to hide!

He does lighten up, then he spooks himself and darkens down again. When he had ich he was very, very dark!

Think he will lighten up as he grows, shame though, big black and white puff would be nice.

Yeah maybe you'll get lucky and it'll stay dark. Or you could get some other rare color.

just keeping him alive is good enough for me.....

every day i wake up and think, hope he's still ok..... so far, so good....

but i get scared.

I don't care waht colour he is as long as he's still buzzing round that tank!

You should see my valentini with a crab. Once he finds that sucker he's flying at it.

Don't say that... it makes me nervous...

Rememer i've only been keeping SW for about 5 months... and i made my first rookie mistake by introducing ich clown to original tank... wiped out whole tank minus my lion which i managed to save with copper. (learnt that lesson the hard way!)

Got whole new tank, left old one fallow for 6 weeks, then transfered everything to the new tank.... looks lovely with leathers, and lion in there...

Then got stars, knowing he had ich (felt sorry for him... don't we always!) ...and quarentined him in hypo for ages... got him better, and he's now been in the main tank for a week or so..

No signs of ich returning... but i still rush in and check on him every day... little bugger does a wonderul job of hiding and giving me heart palpatations!

Will do my best by him, and everyday is a success for me... :-) HA HA, sounds like a AA meeting... my names T1gerbee, and i try and keep fish alive...

Too funny! MY puffers gave me a scare once but I gave them a talk and told him it better never happen again. Or I was going to get out the puffer paddle and spank their booty. I was even crawling around on the floor and inside the stand with a flashlight. I thought for sure he had jumped ship. The little bugger was in there the whole time.

Even though I know about his strange habits, my salivator still can scare me pretty much, and I sometimes have to nudge him to see if he is alive. Especially when he sleeps on his side. He just looks so dead.
And there's not a single day without me having to look all over for him. He is in a 22 G tank. How difficult can it be to find a puffer in a 22 G tank! And when you think about that puffer having red stripes! And I know his hiding places, and still he is difficult to find!

we should spray them with UV so they glow in the dark... then we'd always be able to find them!! (kidding.. before you all report me!)

and yes, i've looked on and around the floor several times when i can't find my puffers....

why oh why do we keep them!.... :-)

Are all juvenile stars and stripes black or is it a rare coloration? Cause there's one at my fish store that's really dark and I was thinking of getting it...unless it lightens up later
