Re: Puffer Newbie: Is my Stars and Stripes Puffer Healthy?
Hey man I have a S&S that is maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch bigger than yourse I have had for a few months, I had some of the same behavior issues with my guy but I found it was directly related to his feeding. If you give him enough food to make his belly swell up much past a slight bulge he would...

Moveing advice
I am going to be getting a new house in jan, so I have to move the beast. I plan on setting up my 2 55g spare/qt tanks at the new house in advance to let them circulate the salt mix over night, then use my 5g buckets and rubber maids to put my fish and LR in and move them to the 55's. After that I w...

Re: SW Macroaglae Tanks anyone?
I rather enjoyed maturing, and the learning that went along with it. To me maturing was really understanding that I did not know or understand everything, and even more, that I could not possibly know and understand everything. But at the same time you realize that you need not stop learning, ever....

Re: NH3/4 readings just after mixing salt?
It definitaly seems narrowed down to your container or the pump. Where do you store the pump when not mixing water? The only thing I can think of is maybe dead growth on the inside of the container or something in the pump, and both of those seem very unlikely. I always rinse out the container afte...

Re: NH3/4 readings just after mixing salt?
Sounds more like a tank issue than mixing or salt issue. What are your tank water parameters before water change? How often are you doing water changes? Are you rinsing your filter media during water changes? Stiring things up in the tank when you do changes?[/quote This has nothing to do with the ...

NH3/4 readings just after mixing salt?
I have a bit of an NH3/4 issue. I age my tap water and dechlorinate it with prime in a 42 or 45g (cant remember) rubbermaid trash can. It's the same can I have used forever and has only had water in it. I circulate the water with a 700gph pump for at least 24 hrs. All my readings (NH3/4, NO2, NO3) a...

Re: Vibrio on my porcupine?
Yes, that is what it looks like. So sorry for the loss of your cute fellow. :( I'm not sure where you go from here though but I wouldn't purchase another puffer until you find out. How long was this guy held at the shop? I'm not exatly sure how long he was at this store....3-4 days + and he looked ...

Vibrio on my porcupine?
So I found out my puffer was now out of the shadows and caves a little bit because he was about to die. I looked up and there he was just floating around with the current :( He was still barely alive so I pulled him out and he went really dark and I noticed some odd discoloration on his face/side. T...

Re: Scared porcupine?
http://forum.marinedepot.com/Topic72164-10-1.aspx Thanks :D Interesting read, I tossed my frozen krill in favor of squid, market shrimp and pemysis shrimp. I fed my clown a couple Danichi pellets today and the puffer seemed almost intrested, he sucked one in, crushed it and spit most of it out, but...
