Re: dentistry alternative?
if you have shaky hands, it is best to get someone else to do it for you. For practice try and clip your own nails taking the edge off in 1 cut. Not the entire thing just a portion of it. 1 clip and a piece should go flying. The same is with the teeth. 1 clip 1 bit. Ebb on the side of caution (not ...

dentistry alternative?
I have a one 2" GSP I've had him for about 2-3 years. For a while now his teeth have been long and recently he has been have a hard time eat anything that is not brine shrimp or frozen bloodworms. I give him snails, but when he can't pick them up he gives up and swims to the top of the tank to ...

Re: I need plants!
Alright thanks! I have one more question; Do puffers prefer gravel or sand?
Since they don't have scales it seems like they would like sand better.. but I'm afraid they might accidentally eat some when picking up a snail?

Re: I need plants!
Thanks guys! He's in a 10 gal. right now and I have added lots of little places for him to hide. So far he's gotten a little braver and has decided to explore his tank! His teeth are a little long though :( I've offered him snails but he isn't able to fit the whole shell in his mouth! So I'll just g...

I need plants!
So I rescued a new spotted puffer from walmart... they were mislabeled as tetras (that shows how much they care for their fish), so i only payed like 3.65 for him. He's quarantined right now because he has Ich. I also bought a new 30 gallon tank and need to find brackish plants to put in it. the puf...

He had been through a lot... And you did everything you could have. At least he died in your care instead of at walmart.

Re: GSP 120 gallon tank progress thread.
Are you sure he was dead?
He would lay in his little cave most of the time when I had him. He would eventually come out and swim around though.
The tank is so cool btw!!

I know!!!Myaj wrote:OMG, you found a vet that knows about puffers! How cool is that!!
It's a place called All Creatures and on their add it listed "fish". So I called and asked about it and they were like "Yeah, bring him on in!"

Re: Walmart is so effing DUMB!!!
you shouldnt take on something you arent fully prepared and able to keep... cause more than likely, youll get attached and then theyll still suffer... or what happens if you dont/cant find a suitable home for them? I'm sorry you feel that way, but I couldn't let them die. I have a while before they...

Re: Walmart is so effing DUMB!!!
I refuse all purchasing from Walmart, not just fish. I still want to know what the OP is going to do with 3 GSPs? Moving then from certain death into an uncycled tank possibly too small for them to a slow death, isn't much better... (if this is the case). The tank is cycled, They don't have any par...

Walmart is so effing DUMB!!!
They had 3 baby puffer's and one was brown and dying, the other two were better off but their fins were shredded. I had to rescue them, but I am mad that I PAID Walmart because I'm just supporting that! It's disgusting; no substrate, less than 10 gallons, and all of them are crammed in there togethe...

Tank Size
I currently have one gsp in a 10 gal. tank. I'm thinking about moving him to a 20 gallon tank.
He's about 2 inches now, would he grow/be better off in the larger tank?
