GSP 120 gallon tank progress thread.

I decided to start a thread on the progress of my three new GSPs and my 120 gallon tank.

Current Stocking list:
4x female mollies
1x male mollie
2x green spotted puffers (+1x in a hospital tank that will be joining them soon)

Current fish problems:
-The littlest puffer isn't looking too great, the one in the hospital tank. He's the skinniest little guy I've ever seen. He's getting fed two or three times daily to try to get some weight on him. Right now all I can get him to eat are vitamin soaked blood worms, but I offer him clam meat once a day too, which he sometimes nibbles at. He's also getting treated for parasites. This morning he actually looks a lot better, he colored up great and you can even see the bright breed spot on the top of his head.

Tank problems:
-Tank looks ugly, lol. I'm waiting for my 50lb of lace rock to get here.
-I'd like to add my 60 gallon onto the tank as a sump, tank is already bottom drilled, but I'm not sure how to go about making this happen.

Future plans for the tank:
-get the s.g. to full marine.
-Add another puffer. Possibly a Honeycomb Toby. I'm trying to track down a Blaasop Beauty, and I've e-mailed a ton of places in South Africa but no luck yet.
-Add mushrooms and zoas.

Just a moment ago I went to feed the puffers before starting on my own dinner. Everyone in the 120 is doing great. I went to feed the small one in the 20 gallon and he wasn't moving. :[ He was looking so much better this morning which made it all that much sadder. Poor guy survived getting scooped up from the wild, shipped to Walmart, rescued, shipped from Oklahoma to Illinois, only to die the next day. At least he's finally at peace in fishy heaven, eating all the snails he could ever want. </3

Are you sure he was dead? He would lay in his little cave most of the time when I had him. He would eventually come out and swim around though.

The tank is so cool btw!!

He had been through a lot... And you did everything you could have. At least he died in your care instead of at walmart.

Still no rocks. My LFS hasn't been able to order it in yet. boo.
The fish are all doing great though. And my dalmatian mollie had babies! I managed to save 10 of them and they're growing in a breeder net.

Possibly picking up a Ceylon to add to the tank, but I haven't decided for sure yet.

Than looks great! Do I see goldfish in there or are those orange mollies?

those are definitely orange mollies One of them looks pregnant now too. Maybe getting a male was a bad idea, lol.

Your in for tons of mollies lol. My platties have gotten to where I dont even try to catch the fry. I have enough hideing spots to let them be and about 80% make it old enough to where nothing is a threat. I use them as feeders for my cichlids and im still kinda worried about over crowding at times. Im trying to get a small lfs to become my costumer lol. The tank looks nice though i wish i had the room for such a big tank.

i thought i would give you some tips on tank deco. im not trying to sound cocky or rude im just giving some advice... so please dont get mad at me lol

the tank to me looks very flat and random, i cant see everything so i could be wrong...
I would angle the sand more, make is shallower in the front and deeper in the back, this creates depth in the tank. also move the taller things to the back shorter to the front. in all of my tanks i work from the corners and back forward so that the front is left open. I Would also replace the fake mangrove roots with some real manzanita, it creates a lot more realistic enviornment for them. I am working on a mangrove themed tank and i have the wood sticking out of the water and it makes it look like they really are roots. I am attaching java moss to them also so they look like a natural thing, not placed. I know my puffers really enjoy the natural plants and wood nd have alot of fun playing in all of it and swimming between the branches. All of my tanks have live plants and real wood/ rocks. I do not use fake plants. If you dont want to do live plants, its understandable because they are just another thing to take care of lol but i think they make a load of difference. and so does placement and angle of the sand.
i think your tank is going to make a wonderful home for the gsp's either way! I am just lending my planters eye lol

lol, I already know the decor is awful. I'm not really doing much with it until it becomes a saltwater tank. I'm buying between 50 and 100 lbs of lacerock fairly soon and that'll be pretty much the only decor until I get liverock and mushrooms.

An update to say I added two more Green Spotted Puffers to the tank (well, soon to be added to the tank, they're in quarantine right now!)
I'll have to get my 60gallon sump hooked up soon to give them a bit more water volume.

They all got names today too! (finally, lol)
