Ok. so here's what I want to know. My conception is that saltwater tanks need marine sand like aragonite sand. Is this true or can I use silica sand?

Re: pls help my moms "phantom" tank! cant figure it out!!!!
put some biomax in your moms tank filter. nitrates are eaten by anerobic bacteria, which won't grow on sponges, basically the bateria needs tight spaces to grow like the biomax.

Re: Sick GSP's
Also, remember that the guy at the petstore can't test for everything in the water, Mineral content etc., ike iodione, calcium and magnesium. You needs special tests for those minerals. He also has no right to say the water is not the problem just for the point that I stated. Plus he should not say ...

Re: Sick GSP's
Hey, Ok so you know that nothing you did is the result of your puffers physical stress since when you took out the puffers from their tanks and appear to be breathing and fine. Trust me they are fine. There stress is sdue to external factors in the tank. Try keeping them in fresh water with a little...

Re: Odd Nitrites
Well, your fish waste is broken down into ammonia , nitrites and then nitrates. this just means that the beneficial bacteria has broken down the ammonia and not the nitrites and nritates. You either do not have the right bacteria or not enough bacteria in the filter. Spikes are normal when you set u...

Re: Question: Safely Feeding Mussels, Shrimp, etc ?
I would ask them What toxin is released. I bet you they would be like uhhh, duhhhh, deerr, I don't know. I would never feed anything I get from the pet store that isn't live unless it's live brine shrimp. I would only feed feeder fish to non-puffer fish. You should have got the frozen squid from san f...
