My F8 is still very shy, and generally hides away when I'm near the tank. If I make any sudden movements, he panics and flees, bless him.

So, no, he hasn't bitten me. If I put my hand into the tank, he disappears. I don't suspect he'd grow large enough to do any damage if he did nip me, either.

I guess it's down to the individual puffer. My F8 will annihilate any snails, worms etc. I drop into the tank. He hasn't bothered the four Amano Shrimp, though, since the first couple of hours when he realised he wasn't fast enough to catch them. They're quick and, above all, very aware of their sur...

You need to run the full course of 4 weeks to assure the parasites are dead. They may not be showing up on the fish but still be alive in the substrate and water column. Thanks. No new cysts have appeared for a week now. Will it be safe to start lowering the temperature again, or is best to er on the side of caution for another couple of weeks?

Amano are a bit more difficult than Cherry to breed. The larvae need saltwater to survive and phytoplankton to eat — not quite as simple as the 'put them in a tank and you'll soon have a million' cherry shrimp.

I'd definately get a different filter. Aquaclears work the best, IMO. They come with a reusable, rinsable sponge for mechanical filtration, along with BioMax ceramic rings, for biological filtration. I also add a layer of filter floss in between, to "polish" the water, crystal clear. You'...
