The cysts appear to have completely gone now, and I've just completely gutted the tank to hopefully get rid of anything floating around. I'll keep up the salt and heat, of course, but it's looking vey hopeful right now. Cheers for all your advice, chaps.

I use Kings WS3 for white spot, but also add a small amount once a month to prevent anything occurring and also when I add new stock to avoid any trespassers.
Havent had any real problems using this method, as I do regular water changes, which is key I think to a healthy tank.

It's important that you not use meds on your puffer, and that you don't medicate unnecessarily. Both of these practices are unsafe.

No new cysts have appeared for a week now. Will it be safe to start lowering the temperature again, or is best to er on the side of caution for another couple of weeks?

You need to run the full course of 4 weeks to assure the parasites are dead. They may not be showing up on the fish but still be alive in the substrate and water column.

I think by adding an anti-paracitic med at monthly intervals, will just make the parasite immune to it.

Thanks. I'll keep the heat up.

I did a complete tank overhaul partway through the whitespot, including replacing the gravel with sand, and thoroughly washing the plants etc. so hopefully there won't be any of the parasite left, though it's obviously better to be safe than sorry. Cheers.
