They would probably get picked apart, slowly...

With DPs, it's a toss-up. Mine got along great with a ghost shrimp.

With bigger puffs, I'm gonna say nope, bad plan.

I have 3 amano shrimp in with my male and female Irrubesco, the puffers don't bother them at all, they have been in there for about 4 months and are still alive and well and my tank is algae free yey! :D

My DP's completely ignored the shrimp in the tank with them, even when the shrimp "landed" on top of the puffers, which was quite funny to see. Never had any attacks of any kind.

I guess it's down to the individual puffer.

My F8 will annihilate any snails, worms etc. I drop into the tank. He hasn't bothered the four Amano Shrimp, though, since the first couple of hours when he realised he wasn't fast enough to catch them. They're quick and, above all, very aware of their surroundings.

Hehe! We named my Suvatti Marc Anthony after the Buggs Bunny cartoon Kat Feud because he's this rough, tough, anything gets in my tank I'll annihilate it, kind of puffer...except for the one ghost shrimp I put in there (we call it his kitten) that rides him....

The ghost shrimp kinda scared my puffers at first. He was bigger than them, maybe an inch, they were barely over half an inch, and they got just a little too close, and he waved his tiny claws at them and they backed off FAST.

Not mine, but it cracked me up...
