Re: compadibility question, please help!
i understand that they are very aggressive and that many species are too big for my tank. Then none of us can help you. Why would you want a bunch of angry, stunted fish in your tank? his tank mates would be: 1 jag cichlid, [14+inches] 1 venustus cichlid [10+ inches, min. of 125g] 1 bumblebee cichl...

Re: Earthworm Happiness!
I wish I could find tiny ones. All my fish are too small to eat regular ones. Chop 'em in half or in thirds. You could always freeze the remaining pieces and keep the box of worms in the fridge. :D! Thaw pieces in vitamin water. Though if the appeal is the wiggle they do ... That would probably be ...

Too Much or Too Little?
After seeing some photos of the puffers other people are keeping... Mine seems nearly anorexic in comparison! I thought I'd post pics, because I think he's healthy. He's just not... as big as everyone else's. My abei puffer is about 1.5" long, still a baby really. This is him about an hour or m...

Re: Update/Advice sought
To my knowledge, triggerfish can get pretty big. I wouldn't do it. 24g is enough for just the puffer - you're thinking bioload (amount of waste they produce) as well as swimming space. I have heard that clownfish do well with GSP. Though it should be noted the tank was bigger than your current one. ...

Re: ***GSP's Staying Fat????****
My abei is nowhere near that "round" in either of the pictures shown; F8 or GSP. I feed until his belly puffs out and gets round a bit, then stop. One time he reached a size comparible to the pictures and I thought I had overfed him, so he got nothing the next day which was fine to me sinc...

Female irrubesco's don't have the red tail. Just the boys. You can see if you look through the pics in the PufferPedia.
I'm assuming it's an irrubesco.

Re: upsizing my tank
I agree with BFF, 66 us gallons ain't bad for 2 2" fish, (it's alot beter then the 33 gallon tank I was lookin at!) and when they get bigger in a couple years I can make a rasional desission on wat 2 do 4 the best. I have lost a table+ chairs at home just 2 fit this tank in, it fills the room!...

Re: Camallanus worms
RTR isn't your average fish keeper, is he? lol This man means serious business. And about busybones' comment on quarantine... If this can lie dormant for up to 6 months, I don't think there's any way around it if the worm is dormant. That's a pretty scary thought. ! True, but she would have found ou...

Re: Camallanus worms
Holy heck, those things sound NASTY. Worms hatching inside little fishies... I shudder at the thought! I haven't heard of them before - is it an internal parasite thing? Where they latch onto the intestines to devour the nutrients? Or is it more of a flesh-eating parasite, that starts on the fish's ...

Re: So Tempting!!!
Jealousy consumes me!! I want a GSP as my second puffer - but I told myself no new pets (hubby wants to buy our male Corgi a girlfriend lol) until after the baby and we move into the new house... SIGH. lol But it's nice to hear of a LFS that's keeping a healthy group of puffers. Don't seem to find a...

Re: upsizing my tank
Don't forget PP that we are in the UK, so our 55 UK gallons is actually 66 US Gallons. So I reckon that 33 gallons for each fishy is pretty good! iv got 2 gsp in a 18.7 (us gallon) tank... I think Chillyfish is talking in US gallons ...? But I don't know. CONGRATS ON THE 55G!! I wish I had the spac...

Re: What Temperature Do You Keep Your Puffer Tank?
I wouldn't say that 80 is better over 76, to be honest. I imagine that with life in general there are temperature fluctuations - some days cooler, some days a little warmer. I keep my tank 76 - 80. I'm happy with any range within those numbers. Usually it sits at 78. But if I were you I wouldn't fre...

Re: Jungle Fizz Tabs -- How Much to Use?
pretty sure you just drop them in tank via whatever gallon to tab ratio is .if im thinking of right stuff. But she doesn't want to treat the tank, just the food. So essentially BeeBoo will be getting a more concentrated version of the medicine... Which is why she wants to know how much to put in th...
