Re: So Tempting!!!
When I went to the LFS Monday all they had for lorteti were males. About a half a dozen of them. I was so tempted to take one home.

Re: So Tempting!!!
Jealousy consumes me!!
I want a GSP as my second puffer - but I told myself no new pets (hubby wants to buy our male Corgi a girlfriend lol) until after the baby and we move into the new house... SIGH. lol
But it's nice to hear of a LFS that's keeping a healthy group of puffers. Don't seem to find any LFS worth stepping into here in Jersey. Most of the mom and pop places I find are disgusting and need to be shut down, IMO.

I found one in OHIO
which six hour drive from chicago one way. Cost of a puffer $5, cost of airport to airport shipping $60 not worth it.

Re: So Tempting!!!
My LFS only has a couple puffers most of the time. Last week I was there though, and they had a bunch of really sad looking ones. The marine puffers are always really skinny, with wrinkles on their bellies because they are that underfed. Then for freshwater, they kept several dwarf puffers in the same tank as a betta. The betta looked horrible, and all the puffers had nipped eachothers fins. And finally, for GSPs and F8s, which they also keep in freshwater, they all discolored, nipped fins, and skinny. I wish I could have bought one to help it out, but I just cant do another fish tank.
They did have a porcupine puffer that must have been a fresh trade though. It was huge, and it looked extremly healthy. I love their eyes, the blue specs are so attractive.
