Picky eater

My gsp has always been a picky eater. I remember him and my f8 not eating krill (the frozen and packed kind), so I switched them to a seafood only diet, well now my gsp wont eat regular, supermarket shrimp, just clams which is really frustrating because I want to give him a variety of food as to not...

Re: is my GSP a goner? =(

So sorry for your loss, I lost a molly to that same problem...thank goodness I didn't have my puffers yet..Now I take a sponge that's meant for the filter and cut a hole in the middle and stop right before i cut through the bottom. I stick this over the filter so that no fish can be sucked in

Re: Green Figure Eight?

Are you sure it's a figure eight? The pattern looks an awful lot like a figure eight to me..but the color looks like a ceylon...

Re: Uhhh....loss of appetite??!!??

Thank you for all of your advice. We are searching for a bigger tank for Odo. Last I checked, btw, he was about 2-3in and Cassie 1-2in (long) and we do know that the water parameters are a little too high for Cassie, my lfs said it would be ok up until about where I'm at because it's hard to cope wi...

Uhhh....loss of appetite??!!??

Ok.....so I have 2 puffers...Odo and Cassie. Odo is a green spotted puffer and Cassie is a figure eight. Odo is usually an enthusiastic eater and loves raw (frozen and then thawed in tank water) shrimp cut up into bite size pieces. He will need a bigger tank..I know. But when?? Is he needing one now...

A question I've pondered

I was thinking about puffer fish and I wondered. If a puffers beak was to overgrow could it be trimmed or would it be too late? Just a question.
Thanks

Re: Fiddler Crabs

I've caught crayfish before, but never for puffers. My puffers are only around an inch to an inch and a half in size. Would the crayfish be too big?

Nerite Snails?????

I heard that nerite snails will adapt to brackish water and will help with the algae. I also heard that puffers eat them. My puffers are only about an inch or so, so the nerite snail would be way to big for them to eat. Do you guys know if the puffers will mess with the nerite snail or just leave it...

Water Test Kit

I'm looking to buy a good water test kit. I have brackish water but when my LFS tested it they just compared the FW and SW test charts to find the result. Anyways, any ideas of where to get a good one? My LFS does give out free water tests, but its more convenient if I can test my water on my own.

Tiny Spikes?

The other day I was searching the web and found this picture. http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Braki96.jpg It's a GSP (I'm pretty sure) and its puffed. There are tiny spikes on this little GSP. Just as a matter of interest (me being the owner of a GSP who's never puffed) when GSPs puff do they naturally ...

Bigger Tank?

I have an (about) one and a half inch GSP and an (about) nearly-one-inch F8 living in my 10 gallon brackish tank. I know that I'll need a bigger tank for them and eventually will have to separate them, but how soon do I need a bigger tank?

Re: F8 Puffer Fish Feeding techniques??

I hold in a regular sized shrimp and let my little f8 eat off of it until he's full. Of course you have to watch them because they'll stuff themselves. Their bellies will bulge and that way you can tell that it's had enough. Also I sometimes put a butter clam in and take it out when my f8s full. I w...
