Re: Fahaka puffer in trouble on Reef Central
I have found that the greatest way of doing research is to troll the HELP ME PLEASE threads in the newbie forums. Sometimes if I know the answer I will post - other times I just read what everyone else posts and take the common denominator :) Thank you guys so much for helping the Fahaka - hopefully...

Re: GSP had a ?Seizure?
My mistake - I don't feed the entire shrimp - I cut it into 3rds. He gets fed 1/3 a day with one day off. Once he is round - I remove the shrimp.
He could have just had a tummy ache.

Re: Acclimating Fresh to Salt
Depends upon how big the GSP is - they do move up to SW as they get bigger. You just raise the SG a little bit each week until the are at the correct SG for their size.

Re: Wierd Nitrite readings - What to do???
I use the Masters SW test kit - it is fairly new. I thought about that too - but I am cycling another tank - and get different readings that do fluctuate. I also tested with Nitrite and Nitrate test strips for both FW and SW - keep getting the same readings as with my Masters. Is it just me - or is ...

Wierd Nitrite readings - What to do???
As this has been going on for a week - I thought I would ask for some advice. I set up my new tank last Friday - added the LS (don't think it was very alive) and LR (which has now been removed). On Sunday - did a water test and all was good. Added Bio-Spira let it run for 4 hours - tested again - al...

Re: GSP Multiple Issues
What is your SG? What does the GSPs color look like? Any change(other than black lines)? IMHO - I think your GSP is stressed from too small a tank - 2 GSPs need 55-60g of room (even at that small of a size). Black lines running horizontal across the belly and under the eyes are a sign of stress - ei...

Re: New Tank TODAY!!!!!!!
Thought that I would update you... Got home at 10 last night and took water readings. They were not as good as I had hoped Nitrite - .25 Nitrate - 15 Ammonia - A little above 0 pH 7.8 SG 1.004 I did an 80% water change, removed all the live rock - left the sand though. Added some Prime and new Bio-F...

Re: NEED GSP HELP
I have foiund Bio Spira at Tong's on Magnolia and Warner next to the Plowboys. I too got my GSP from WalMart - seems pretty common. If he is as small as mine is - I would reduce the amount of SG down to 1.004-.005 (that is just me). At this SG - you can use the Freshwater Bio Spira - if it is any hi...

Re: New Tank TODAY!!!!!!!
Well now that I know that everything is dead - I am suprised I haven't seen a spike either. Maybe the LS was dead? I am going to call the LFS and see what type of LR he gave me - maybe it wasn't marine LR. What would you recommend for the substrate - just regular old argonite(?) sand? When I start w...

Re: New Tank TODAY!!!!!!!
I neglected to mention... I added B-S to the tank yesterday am and then put in the GSP in the afternoon after taking a water reading. I could not maintain the proper water parameters in the small tank and wanted him out of that environment. I tested the water last night and again this morning. The r...

Re: New Tank TODAY!!!!!!!
So - Sorry about this - I am not sure what to do. Take the sand out - or leave it in since it is likely dead. Take the DR out - or leave it in? I do know that I am going to have to change out the Bio Filter now. Crap - this sucks. I assume that the SG is ok - I am not increasing it until he grows mo...

Re: New Tank TODAY!!!!!!!
Good Morning - Oh geez - now I am concerned. The SG is 1.005 - .006 (I thought that this was the correct SG for GSPs less than 2 inches?) So - my LR and LS are gonna die? Good Deal :? I would assume then that if it dies - this is gonna mess up my water. Should I remove the sand and rocks then? The t...
