Re: Are they really that rare?

There were 2 at Maidenhead Aquatics in Farnham - originally for £300 each. I know they sold one but haven't been there for ages so I don't know about the second one. It did look pretty stressed and unhappy last time I saw it:(

Re: Are Fahaka Puffers very friendly?

Mine seems to be a big softy - he is on his own in the tank but never looks aggresive at all. Even when eating he doesn't really attack his food and he jas never tried to bite me (thank goodness!). Heis a little over a year old, about 8" total length and appears to be very happy and healthy :D

Re: Puffing!

Clarkson just puffed again - as we're taking down the Christmas tree - what an amazing sight! He really doesn't seem bothered or stressed though.

Re: Puffing!

Clarkson my Fahaka puffed a little today - amazing to watch, I have never seen anything like it. He didn't seem particularly bothered or stressed - but he does seem intrigued by the Christmas tree next to his tank! I was nowhere near the tank but I saw him staring towards the tree, gulping a lot and...

Re: whats your fahakas favourite foods

Mine has live shrimps, bloodworms and brine shrimps (all available from most lfs) but his main food is mussel - either the frozen food packs from lfs or the fresh packs from supermarkets (which I then freeze) - simply defrost and either feed whole or more usually cut into 3 bits and feed him until h...

Re: Nile Puffer Question

are VERY aggressive Mine's a cutie, well he hasn't taken a chunk out of my hand yet :) They are so fascinating to watch and interact with but they do take a bit of looking after - large tank, oversized filtration, big water changes etc - but well worth it. This is my first aquarium and I did a lot ...

Re: Pic of Fahaka after eating..Lazy

OK, full test done before any water change this week, so this is as bad as it gets before maintenance! Remember though, he is a relatively small fish in a fairly large tank and is only fed what he eats so I don't get any real quality issues. Substrate is gravel, and tank has bogwood and quite a few ...

Re: Pic of Fahaka after eating..Lazy

Hi,

I'll do a full test in the morning, I don't have a kit for KH and GH but my lfs said they'd test it for me - their view was that it would be 'very high' based on the tap water we have around here. I'll post up results tomorrow.

Re: Fahaka has doubled in size

He isn't easy to measure but I think he is about 6" including tail. I haven't updated the website in ages, I really should get back on it as a lot has gone on (Captain Slow has a new home and Clarkson has developed a fair bit!) The best pictures of Clarkson are in the 'pix and flix' http://www....

Re: Mbu snails

Easy to find in the UK, plenty on sale and they breed really well so loads aroound. I couldn't feed one to my fish though as I bought my nephew one for a pet, he's fascinated by it (and it is huge now at nearly 2 years old!) - they are pets not food
