Is it normal that in 2 weeks maybe 3...the fahaka (satan) has doubled in size? it seems everyday he is bigger and bigger. its grown in width and legnth..my husband is all excited about it now. he seemed kinda sickly at first..now hes strong and ready to go...lol.
He is SUPER aggressive! Biting anything near him. More agrressive now than he was for sure.
He eats anything...and i do mean anything he comes across. He even bites the bubbles if they go in his face. hahaha. Big Meany!

Thats crazy! I am just amazed by the growth. Never seen a fish grow so fast, NUTS! His aggression level has increased tremendously as well. There are a couple really fast tetras in there with him, he never chased them, but now, he hunts them down. they are gonna make a journey to the lfs to save there life today. hahahaha. Satan just hates them,they get away for now..but soon he will be able to catch them.

mine got over his little bout of sickness and he has probably added a half inch or so in the last week. My big tank plans are getting pushed along faster now. He is just a monster!!!
I got a red tail shark and some balla sharks and a catfish and a pleco all in there with him and he is doin great with them. He shares food and he never chases or follows any of them around. I think I got a mild mannored Fahaka!!! I'm just waiting for him to grow into his colors now.
He is doing great. when i got him he was under 2 inches i think, now he has grown at least an inch or so in the last 3 weeks. he is getting big and the tank looks not so empty when he swims around hunting. he really likes that shrimp, but wont touch the mussels yet. i will try again soon.

he had me worried for a little while but now he is back and doin good. His coloring is coming out more to. I hope that he starts to darken up like TheBruce's fahaka.
Mines doing well but he goes through phases of growing a lot and then staying the same for a while, similarly with eating - he used to want something every day but now he can take it or leave it - maybe not eating for a couple of days and then really keen for a mussel or 2. I got him in Jan at about 2" and now he is 5" or 6" I guess. He doesn't appear to be aggresive like he used to, quite chilled in fact (I'd rather he was a bit meaner if I'm honest!). He used to share the tank with a big plec but since we moved him on the Fahaka seems a lot more relaxed. He is still great fun, amazing how he recognises different people - particularly those likely to feed him! I love hand feeding him as well. a few things still spook him - strangers approaching the tank and the vacuum cleaner really bother him - but me stood on a chair, up to my shoulder in water cleaning the tank out doesn't seem to worry him - I guess he knows it is me and therefore that's OK
Grubbster, are you including the tail in that length? I ask this cause I got my fahaka in the end of june at about 2" and he is close to 6" (with tail) now after his last little growth spurt.
I was trying to show some people at work some more pics of your puff but your website only has him when he is just a little guy. You have some great pics of when he was a baby on there though.
Mine does the same thing with he used to get really spooked when I was around even during feeding but now he is pretty relaxed. He doesn't even jump around when i'm playing with the dog.
He isn't easy to measure but I think he is about 6" including tail. I haven't updated the website in ages, I really should get back on it as a lot has gone on (Captain Slow has a new home and Clarkson has developed a fair bit!) The best pictures of Clarkson are in the 'pix and flix' viewtopic.php?f=11&t=13711 but you've already seen them. I'll try and find the time to take a few more and to do a site update at the weekend
Hmm, I would have thought he might be a little larger than mine by now. I imagine yours is probably rounder than mine is though; mine seems to be bigger one day and the next not as filled out looking.
Grubbster, if you don't mind could you check out this string viewtopic.php?f=56&t=14076 and maybe give some input on what you water quality. We are all trying to get our fahaka as beautiful as yours and your input might be helpful.
