Re: Figure 8 vs Knight Goby/Battle of the Ages

When my tank was running nicely , my gobies would spawn every month on the dot.
When the male was guarding the eggs nothing was allowed near. It was amazing to see a KG literally headbut a F8 away.

Re: Holiday disaster.

It goes from bad to worse. Despite doing lots and lots of water changes I just lost an Orange Chromide :-( Water params are as follows Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate somewhere between 12.5-25 on the tetra kit. I am colour blind so it's a bit hard to tell sometimes lol PH 8 SG is running at 1.007 Had a ...

Re: Holiday disaster.

Totally with you on that PP. Still fish in there so have been in the process of a good wc as I found one of the puffers :-( Treating for whitespot and added some melafix as well due to the marks on the chromides. I'm not in any rush to get the puffers it's just I hate the 2 hr round trip to a lfs th...

Re: Holiday disaster.

My friend who works/runs a lfs popped in and checked found 3 of them dead.
He did a waterchange etc but I found the last one dead when I got home :-(
Now I have to try and hunt down a couple more. Most LFS here won't even get in Brackish fish anymore.

Holiday disaster.

Just got back from a week in Scotland only to find my F8's all dead :-(
Green chromide isn't looking to clever, case of whitespot though and a very pale patch on it's side.
That's it I'm not holidaying again.

Re: How many more than me have there f8 in a comunity tank?

Patric, The waspfish are neovespicula Depressifrons and it is venomous not poisonous. I am not sure if the orange chromides are a male and female. One is much brighter than the other and they spend a lot of time squabbling  Plenty of pics of the chromides and waspfish here http://s73.photobuc...

Re: How many more than me have there f8 in a comunity tank?

I have 4 F8's in a Rio 240 along with 3 mollies,2 waspfish 3 knight gobies 2 orange chromides and a green chromide.
The knight gobies are spawning every month and it is quite amazing to see a F8 pushed out of the way by a rushing Knight gobie protecting the eggs.

You might consider Chromides and maybe waspfish.
Just a thought.

Re: 53G: 2xF8s, and what?

Agnate,
Ref the wasp fish.
I have 2 in with 4 x F8's all seems good so far. The wasp fish have their own little corner which they spend most of their time in and the puffers leave well alone :-)

Re: 53G: 2xF8s, and what?

I got my Chromides and knight Gobies from wholesale tropicals on the tropical fish finder web site. They have both listed still :-) Can't recommend them enough superbly packed delivered early, spot on. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i210/smudger72/fish/chromides.jpg Not the best picture in the wo...

Re: 53G: 2xF8s, and what?

From what I can see these are the options you have. 1. Bumblebee gobies- You could have lots of these and my F8's have left well alone, they are also good fun to watch.I know you have discounted these but they do seem to work. 2. Orange Chromides - Lovely fish only one male in a tank though. May work...

Re: Thin F8 puffer - possibly ill?

Pandaking, feeding garlic won't cure the Ip problem it might make the puffer eat more though. Unfortunately in the UK you can't buy any decent medications Geltek etc are not available here. I used Flubenol wormer with my F8's when they had IP's with great effect but I just checked and that is only a...

Re: 20G long needs a new quiet filter. Ideas?

I have an Ecco 2232 and it is superb.
Very quiet and I have just added it to my snail breeding tank because of the nasty cloudy water :-(
It's cleared it in less than a day.
