Just got back from a week in Scotland only to find my F8's all dead
Green chromide isn't looking to clever, case of whitespot though and a very pale patch on it's side.
That's it I'm not holidaying again.

Must have had a spot or 2 before you left that you didn't see. Sorry for your loss...

My friend who works/runs a lfs popped in and checked found 3 of them dead.
He did a waterchange etc but I found the last one dead when I got home
Now I have to try and hunt down a couple more. Most LFS here won't even get in Brackish fish anymore.

keep looking a little further afield, someone somewhere will have them, but be patient, you'll be needing to leave your tank fallow for at least six to eight weeks to make sure all traces of the whitespot are gone before it's safe to add new fish.

That advise is for SW crypt, when you want to keep your liverock & sand alive & any inverts. For FW ich, just clean out the tank, etc. with bleach or Oxyclean & start over. If there is fish in there, you need to get it better & wait a month w/o any spots before adding any more.

Totally with you on that PP.
Still fish in there so have been in the process of a good wc as I found one of the puffers
Treating for whitespot and added some melafix as well due to the marks on the chromides.
I'm not in any rush to get the puffers it's just I hate the 2 hr round trip to a lfs that actually stocks them.
That's one of the downsides of living in the westcountry(england).

Jay, don't be discouraged, as your information wasn't "wrong"; there's just a quicker way to reset a freshwater tank.

Telling other people is how we learn best. Plus, it's good to see more than one post in a forum when someone asks for help or advise!

How big is the tank? There's a guy selling his puffers off in the UK. Look in the Classifieds.

Sorry to hear. I have a fear that what you came home to will happen to me. I may have to go out of town for 2 weeks for work in a month or so. I am more worried about my 14 puffs not gettting cared for than I am my dog being taken care of. Everyone knows how to take care of a dog but noone knows about fish. I would need at least 2 wc for the length of the trip. The feeding my roomates have down but not so sure they would remember to do wc.

Every time I write advise I close my eyes and wait for PP or nick or yunichin or any of the other moderators to blow me out of the water. It doesn't happen to often but I never hold back on the advise. LIke Agnate said if its wrong; you learn and if its not and one of the mods miss the thread then the person I was trying to help might not get it. The mods are usually pretty nice about it too.

it's not that dude, it just seems that most of what I was advised in the beginning is "obsolete" information as such, so I'm just not diving in until I've read up some more on what's what, that's all, we all make mistakes and get stuff wrong, I've done more than my fair share of that in the past LOL

It goes from bad to worse.
Despite doing lots and lots of water changes I just lost an Orange Chromide
Water params are as follows
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate somewhere between 12.5-25 on the tetra kit.
I am colour blind so it's a bit hard to tell sometimes lol
PH 8

SG is running at 1.007
Had a major battle with the nitrate which was over 150. It really was a very very dark red
The orange chromide looked awful it had red marks on one flank with a kind of white ring.
The green chromide seems to be good one day and just rests propped up at the end of the tank another day.
Knight gobies seem to have clamped fins.

I have been treating with melafix and King British whitespot treatment as them seem to be flashing on the coral sand.
Does anyone have any ideas on what the hell is wrong.
The water is testing as good now but the fish are still bad, is it possible that the nitrate being that high has posioned them?
