I was also thinking of a Salarias fasciatus because we have two in the LFS and one of them is eating Nori and spirulina. So I can still feed him after the algae are gone in the tank

My puffer is lonely, what to put in with him?

I have a GSP in a marine tank. Water levels are perfect and there are some buttons and polyps in with him. The problem is that he's the only fish in the tank. Very healthy but lonely. He pases up and down and is very shy. I know from experience that putting in another fish will help him. It's not th...

At the moment I have brown buttons and a bleu sponge in with my GSP. I also have some fluorecsense green starpollyps and a Mushroom Anemone in with the GSP, no probleems whatsoever. Some pics. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/MARC_S/marc1338.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/MA...

ok, it's now freely swimming in the tank now. i don't think it can catch the guppies, coz they dart far too quickly(thanks to my whipping net 'training' when catching them). some males thought it is a female guppy, and did the 's' shape mating dance. and OH MY GOD, it's feces is SO big. pictures co...

I also work for an LFS. Ask yourself the question, "Why did these fish die on the way here"? They most likely died from the pollutants that build up the bags during transport, not natural causes. FYI, freezing does not destroy all diseases present. For this reason I rarely recommend froze...

Maybe, the person telling you that "putting it in marine conditions is lethal" thought you'd throw him from fresh water to sea water. That would not be a good idea, because it can get an osmotic shock. But acclimatising him as usual in bucket from fresh water to sea water e.g. by adding s...

Read the GSP article in the library, it has all of the instructions there. And no, you will not kill the GSP by putting it in marine conditions. Whoever told you that is an idiot. I read that and that's my reason for putting him in a full marine tank. But the articles vary on this subject and so I ...

What salinity should I try to get for my GSP?

Yesterday I posted on another forum and there I was told that putting my GSP in complete salt is lethal. Here I read that big GSP should be in saltwater. I'm raising salinity at this moment and I'm on 1.008 now. I was planning for 1.023 but now I'm not sure anymore. :? The Internet is also not helpi...

The fish I feed are very small baby-fish that are caught with mysis. They die during transport to the LFS where I work. Some are dead, some are dying. So they are very small and I freeze them to get rid of the diseases. But if fish is not healthy I'll stop feeding fish. I thought that they were very...

Fish is generally not a good diet for puffers. There is a large enough variation of foods to offer them in order to omit fish from a GSP diet. :? But what is the problem with fish then? Since a lot of puffers eat their tank mates if too small I thought fish was fine for him. He was of course wild c...

I'm tell you guys, the food article needs to be made much more prominent. This seems to be coming up several times a day now. I know what's in the food article but I do not think everybody feeds exactly what's in that article. I just wondered what GSP get fed in reality. Fish as an example. ...

What do you feed your GSP?

Hi, I wanted to know what you all feed your GSP. I've had mine for 2 weeks now and because I work in a LFS I can feed him whatever he likes. And he likes a lot I have to say. He eats live mysis, live shrimps, live blood worms, live white mosquito larvae, frozen fish, clams, snails, krill and...

Don't need snails for his teeth, just live rock

Hi, since I put my GSP in all most complete marine water and added old live rocks he keeps biting in them :? He attacks the rocks and bites chunks off. I first thought he lost his teeth when he banged the window of the tank but now I see him biting off peaces of live rock  Especially the cora...
