OK, so the wife and I are moving in about 2 weeks, not far but this time I'm setting the tank up the way I want it..... with puffers
So here's what I've got
55 gal
rena XP3 - great filtration and provides waterflowage
Halogen Lights
Night lights
Fake Plants
Some PVC couplings in there now for hiding places
heater - have one now actually I'm going to get two, one on both sides so they A) work less B) have a backup
Here's what I've read I'm going to need
Hydrometer - not necessary for a few months
Marine Salt - not necessary for a few months
Mini-ceramic pots 1per gobie spaced out at the base of the aquarium.
Questions
1) My plan is for 2 F8's and 5 bumble bee gobies. Sound good? I would like 3 F8's but I think it would be to crowded.
2) Substrate... just playsand? I'm doing all fake plants cause real plants however nice never seem to work with me, so do F8's & BBG's prefer just playsand?
I still have to check with the local petland to see if they keep them in BW or FW, I'm gonna guess FW. So in that case I'm gonna fishless cycle the tank, then slowly load up over a 2 months, finally once it's all adjusted slowly raise the salinity over 2-3 months till it reaches proper gravity.
I'm also going to put a small 10 gal in the tank stand and make a breeders tank. Put all the basics in it, along with 12 or so feeder guppies, ghost shrimp and snails to make a tasty bi-daily treat for my new residents.
So does it all sound right?
Have I missed anything?
Thanks,
Russ
