Pignose Puffer

Hi

We have seen a Pignose Puffer at our LFS, they seem very friendly, but don't seem to do alot in there tank at the shop, my question is do they become more active or at least interact with there owner? or are they just lazy? I was assuming they were placid because of the lacking of the LFS tanks?

We have a 62x52x39cm(24x20x15inches) holds approx 113ltr(25 imp.gals or 30 US gal)

Or what other FW species puffer could we have? I thought about dwarfs but I think they may be lost in that tank? The LFS also had some Red Eye Zebra Puffers but they were £75 each so wasn't to keen on them.

Love puffer always wanted one so I want to get it right first time round so doing my research and getting opinions before we decide what to get, I have good access to shellfish for them(i'm a chef) so can offer a good varied diet and hopefully keep their teeth in check!

I have 2 Pignose Puffer or T. Suvatti i just to have 3. Lost one to a electric blackout.
(This can be breed, i had fry from mine)
And it is the most "lazy" puffer i have. They bury them selves and stay bury `d until feeding time.


I have one in 30 gallon, and its using max 30-40 % of the tank. So i think 30 gallon is ok

Just as you've seen. Lurkers lay in wait, buried up to their eyeballs in the sand, until food swims/walks by. Then they leap out, eat the food & go back under the sand (or hide out in a cave/plants, if there is no sand). My avatar is another kind of "ambush predator", the T miurus.

If you are interested I have loads of puffers for sale including a male and female suvattii, juvenile suvattii,red eye zebra puffer, palembang puffer, baileyi puffer at a fraction of the price of the shops. I am in Derby as well.

To be honest I don't think that any of these puffers would be right for me, I was really looking for one that was more active, If you have any recomendations of which one that could be and to fit my tank, then please LMK

What price you looking for him?

Can he go in a planted tank with wood and stone.

He would be ideal for that size tank and the decor is fine. The tank would be a little small for the suvattii pair especially as they are breeding.

He is still young but by far a baby. He is the most active and best palembang I have had out of 6.
I am separating from my wife, buying her out and need to cut some costs basically.I have 13 tanks and many many puffers. Some have to go for financial reasons. All are in perfect health and I would say that they in better condition than any shop bought specimen.
