New Green Spotted Puffer!

Post by connorspuffer »

After having had my tank setup for about 2 months, i got my puffer!!!!! Ive kept dwarf puffers and South american but they dnt compare to these lil things! The personality its gots great! I chooked a couple of pond snails in the tank before i let him out of the bag and he shoved them down hi throat. I had a reasonably large snail in the tank during the cycling period as i had a few patches of algae and he even ate that :(
Ill get pics up soon but hes too fast!
Now, at the moment hes in freshwater as the LFS kept him in FW so ill be introducing brackish water every water change. Can i just double check what salinity a puffer below 2 inches should be kept at? At that size would eh eat cockle in shell?
Hes a gorgeous fish with such lovely markings and colour!
PS i have multiple FW tanks up so i know how to cycle a tank and all the basics so dont ask questions like " Are you sure the tank was cycled?" and stuff lol
Thanks
Connor

Have a look at the GSP article in the library, should answer a lot of your questions.

Shall i keep the salinity at 0.002 or just raise it by 0.002 at each water change? WHat should i eventually raise it to for one under 2"?

1.008-10 should be fine. Did you read the article in our Library?

For a rough estimate, it takes about 1 cup of salt/5g, to raise the SG .005

Cheers thanks
SO ill use a lil less than 2.5g each water change to get it to 0.002.
Just a question, when i get ti to say 0.007,do i keep putting in 0.007 water when i do a water change or will that make the salinity high, like raising it to 0.014?

Nope, you can never raise the SG by adding water the same SG in a change.
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.
