Fahaka Puffer Compatibility
Hello, I have a young 2" fahaka puffer. Its in a 30 gallon for now until i get a bigger tank. Will a 125 gallon be enough for this type of puffer? What types of other fishes are compatible with it? i have mines right now with a 4" pleco and well the puffer doesnt have any problems with having a tankmate with him but i think thats just because he has armor. But one thing is that i dont want to risk a fishes life to a very aggressive puffer. If its is compatible with another type of fish it would be kept with the puffer in the larger tank of 125 gallon.Would the puffer attack or nip at another fish if the other is swimming out in the open?

A tank with around the 120 gallons will be fine, preferably a tank with a depth of 2ft. Tankmate compatability is all down to the individual puffer. At the moment yours is small and seems to be tolerating the pleco, you may find one day he doesnt and that will be that.

Re: Fahaka Puffer Compatibility
Very few fahakas tolerate any other fish, especially long term. Trust me, a fahaka can fill up a 125g all by himself, even when small.

Damn there is a great quote from PFK or somewhere, it goes something like "The Fahaka Puffer , the most aggressive of Puffers, you begin to wonder how these fish mate being so aggressive"
Its better if you read the real statement but it goes soemthing along those lines

Re: Fahaka Puffer Compatibility
One thing that wasn't explained here quite yet, a 120 is actually better for him than a 125. 125's usually are pretty narrow front to back which doesn't give a full grown puffer much turning room. Thats why people usually suggest a 120, 180 or 210 for Fahakas, that 24" front to back gives them a lot more room to turn comfortably.
