Breeding in a SAP tank

Hey

I am really looking for some ways to make some money so I was wondering what I could breed in a 35 gallon with 3 SAPs as tankmates. Could I do some type of dwarf cichlid?

I don't think you should add anything else to a 35 with 3 SAPs, if you want to push it perhaps another SAP or a bristlenose or rubberlip pleco, and if you want to try to make money breeding fish at home in your spare time, I suggest you will make far more money with far less frustration spending half of the free time you would have spent on the fish working part time at walmart.

I would have to agree with Nick about not putting anything in with them. In addition to what he said, its very difficult to make any money by breeding fish in a single smallish tank. Most of the easy to breed fish are readily available in abundance at stores so stores will pay very little for them, if anything.

since I am not old enough to work I cut lawns around my house, but I was just wondering if there was any other way to make money, that's all.

Are you sure that there is nothing small that I could make some money off of?

Not really, they just don't sell, my gf had a spawn of betta fish, and she can't GIVE them away. Anything that will breed in a small tank with tankmates easily is already in oversupply at the LFS and they are unlikely to even accept them free. Are you over 16? Most corps, target and walmart included, will hire 16-18's for the same rates as anyone else, for the same mindless jobs.

Of course, talk with your parents first, but since you clearly know how to take care of an aquarium, perhaps start a small side business cleaning them for other people in your neighborhood... vacuum the gravel, squeeze out the filter sponges, all the nasty stuff people don't like doing... has to be worth more that mowing lawns, requires much more knowhow.

I only live in a small town and very few (maybe 3) people have aquariums that I know of but it still might work because I don't think that one of them takes good care of his african cichlids. Thanks for the tip

Ask around and see what kind of response you get Even if you only get one tank a week or two, it's pocket money.

something like rams or other apistogramma dwarf cichlids would be worth trying I'd think, but SAP's are curious enough to maybe pick off the young...

Well the three baby platies that are in my tank will some times even come out of the plants and eat the food that the puffers are eating at the same time, and the puffers don't even bother them, even though the puffers clearly see them only a couple inches away. So the apistos might work in my tank if there is enough room. What do you think Nick?

I think even if you get fish to breed, and have viable offspring, you will be hard pressed to even find them homes. IF you want to spawn fish because it's interesting, go ahead, but it's a lot of work and not really profitable.

The manager at the big al's who is a good freind of mine is already buying jewel cichlids from my brother for $1.25 each and is putting them for sale at the store, and I am almost positive that he will do the same thing for me with dwarf cichlids. He wouldn't be able to say no to a tiny, little, begging 11 year old boy who is low on cash and needs to make some money
