Hi,
I recently purchased an aquarium and plan on making it into a puffer tank. My question is whether or not I can keep different species of brackish water puffers in the same tank. I was thinking about Figure 8 puffers and spotter puffers. Also, my tank is only 20 gallons. What would you suggest as an appropriate number of puffers to minimize fighting?

20g is sufficient for 1 figure 8 and no other puffers. GSPs and figure 8s aren't compatible as figure 8s are low end brackish and GSPs are high end brackish. The only type of puffer I would recommend for multiples in a 20g tank are dwarf puffers, which are freshwater. You could have 4-5 in a 20g.

Note that GSP usually are started off at low end brackish (if not fresh) and their salinity is raised as they grow.
Also, most brackish puffers are sold in fresh water, so you should check what conditions they are in at the store you wish to purchase from and begin cycling your tank at the same parameters.
