Doing my weekly water change

I was doing my weekly water change the other night, and lifted the lid to my aqurium and notice the water smelt very odd? never noticed this before... what could this mean, is it a good or bad thing?

Well I don't really remember the smell, but perhaps mild rotten smell? it wasn't a strong oder, i just check now an no odar exists at this moment, though I just did the change 2 days ago.

What are your levels?

Nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, salinity?

I have a saltwater tank that I notice a pretty nasty smell coming off of if too much water evaporates and the salinity gets a little higher than normal. For that reason, I make sure to top it off daily.

Its kinda hard to diagnose a problem based on an 'odd smell'. Could be many things, the only thing I have personally noticed that smelled bad would be when i had a BGA outbreak.
