Does anyone think that a mangrove root setup with no plants will be too boring for a pair of F8 puffers?
As the regulars may be aware, I am new to the forum and currently in the exciting position of deciding which fish to keep. I have the equipment to hand (EHIEM Marine thermo filter, custom 55 gallon (US) all glass tank, lighting etc.), just need to weigh up the pros and cons of keeping x2 F8's or x1 GSP.
I really like the mangrove setup: real, treated branches arranged in an irregular pyramid pattern with terrestrial ferns growing at the top. The practicalities of this tank setup are detailed in "The Natural Aquarium" (ISBN 0-86622-629-X). I have read, however, that many people choose to use fake plants. The tank is large enough for the aforementioned fish combinations, and I am fairly confident that the single GSP will be ok. It's the F8's that I am unsure of.
