Freshwater 29 Gallon
Freshwater 29 Gallon
Hi everyone. What kind of freshwater puffer can I get with my 29 gallon? At the LFS there was a "Dwarf Congo Puffer", can anyone tell me what that is? It seemed to be hiding in the gravel(which I thought was really bad, think he needs sand) when I saw him. I'm interested but I also want a pretty active puffer.

Did it look like this: http://www.pufferlist.com/puffer/freshpuff.php?puffid=3 or this: http://www.pufferlist.com/puffer/freshpuff.php?puffid=9
The first one is a dwarf puffer, the second is a congo. You will probably get your answers on that website.

Whats the point of a signature?!

OK thanks for the help everyone. I think I'm going to have to go with a congo because now I'm thinking I don't really need that much of an active puffer anyway. I also want to try out a lurker species and save that poor congo at the LFS in a 10 gallon with gravel instead of sand.
Is there any kind of sand you recommend?

Saving them from a LFS just means your taking a fish out to have another one or more fill its place...

I understand what you mean Tihsho, I am well aware that what you say will probably happen. I have yet to complain to the fish store about it's puffers. It has a superb selection of saltwater. Most of the other puffers are kept in their only species. The store is actually moving to a new location so they are having a sale. Is 10 dollars a good deal for this puffer?Tihsho wrote:Saving them from a LFS just means your taking a fish out to have another one or more fill its place...

I didn't get to see it's real colors because it was hiding in the gravel but it was gray from what I saw. I think it will look similar to the picture at pufferlist. The employee there almost didn't see him either when I asked him about it. Told he they were out of them,
. These guys seem pretty cool now that I've read about them. The employee said that the puffer was the only kind that he's ever seen bury itself and use the substrate in that way. I'm going back to the fish store tomorrow and buying some supplies and hopefully getting the puffer too!
