Ideas for 125g

Post by jread002 »

I've been keeping make African cichlid's for about 6 years and I've become really burned out on them. I decided to get out of the hobby and sell my tanks, then I remember my GSP I had about 10 years ago and thought maybe I'll keep one tank and get a puffer, my 5 year old really likes them also. My problem is I have a 6ft 125 and it doesn't seem like there are many options for that sized tank. At first I was thinking fahaka but I'm realizing my tank is only 18" wide so fahaka is out. Arrowhead puffers are nice but 1 5" fish in a 125 just wouldn't look right, seems like Alot of wasted space. Most of my cichlids were around 7" and tank wouldn't look right with just 1 in there. I've done some research and there just doesn't seem like there are any puffers that go good in a 125. Really not interested in downsizing or upgrading. I have a ton of $$ in my 125 with 2 fx6 a thin 3d background.

I've taken a liking to the dragon/humpback puffer, I like that they get about 8" which is a decent size but seems like they are very inactive. Has anyone ever kept a dragon? Could I keep 2 in a 125. Any info on them would be great,
Don't want to sell my last tank but not sure there are any puffers out there that fit my liking.

I guess I'm looking for some advice or ideas, maybe there some species I've missed.
