Is it sick

Post by FireFightersMoM »

Hi

I have 3 green spotted puffers. For several days his stomach was a dark color. Of course normal is white. Today, I noticed it is back to his normal white. Any idea's of what was up?

As posted many times on the site, puffers change colours for a myriad of reasons, including stress/sickness.

What are the readings for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate? Tank size/mates? Water change frequency and size?

Here's a recent discussion about the same thing, maybe it will help answer your question:

Thank you for being nice about it. I went to your thread and read it. I am sorry, but I did spend some time searching the threads..and didn't see one on coloring :?

They are currently set up in a 55 gallon tank with 3 inches of crushed coral. I have 3 that are about 2 1/2 inches. Info on tank SG 1.005 are Temp 80, PH 7.2, Amm and nitri 0, nitra 15. The tank is currently set up with many hiding places. There seems to be no agression with the 3. I orginial purchased 2...and then thought I better get a 3rd one, which was added the same night.

They are eating several different types of frozen foods. I am hoping to get the SG up and get more LR. Then I could add a clean up crew....is that a good idea??? I have had large salt tanks for a long time.
