aragonite in a canister?

Post by Toadman Z »

I"ve set up a 20g tank that will eventually be a BW tank for a fig8 puffer and a few bumble bee gobies. But, I really didn't want the look of the whitish gravel, so I went with the red flint gravel that works so well in all my FW tanks. I figured that since my water is really hard with a ph of 8.2ish I'd be ok without the extra buffers.
But then I got to thinking. I'm running a Fluval 204 on there. Would it be a good idea to put some aragonite or crushed coral in there as a buffer aid? Of course I'd have to be careful not to let any of it get into the impeller, but other than that, whadya think?

Put it in a media bag and you're good to go.
