Snail mites?!

Post by irri »

I just fed my puffef a snail and a load of fast moving white dots came off of it :(

From googling I *think* they are ariccardoella limacum but I dont know if they are harmful to my fish or if theres anything I can do?

Also does this happen because of poor conditions (should I avoid snails from that place again?) Or is it not a big deal?

It is never nice to see creepy bugs in a tank!! Any help really appreciated!

Always quarantine live foods cos you never know. Hopefully someone here will know what it could be
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Snails may have live ectoparasites. Those are likely harmless to fish, but I would not use them for food myself.

Many of us do breed our own snails.
