New puffer fish owner - SAPs or dwarfs?

Apologies for starting a new topic... I found an article on a similar question but I can't find it again!

Okay... So the tank's all set up and almost ready to go... I'm new to keeping fish so just going on research and advice right now.. My question is should I get Saps or dwarfs? I was first attracted to dwarfs and think these have a slight advantage as there's a lesser chance of needing dentistry.. However, the guy in the shop recommended saps as they were slightly bigger, easier to keep track of and from what I've read, slightly better with other types of fish?

Also, this may seem a silly question.. But I was also told to feed them shrimp (aswell as snails)...Yet I think I've read that shrimp can be good tank mates for them?

Too short for saps trust me, they will drive you insane with their constsnt glass surfing in there. Saps do not belong with other fish unless you wish to do dentistry about 4 times yearly which I have recently learnt the hard way. If you wish to have puffers keep them alone, it's so much better that way. Dps are great little critters

Have you thought of doing a figure 8? You would have to do light brackish water but it is easy.

Oh....just about every puffer will eat shrimp.

Has the tank been cycled yet? If so, how?

Oh? That's worrying... will it be big enough for dps?

The tanks still cycling atm, but the levels are almost there,so I'm just checking it regularly.. I half filled it with water from the pond and have added bacteria pellets with some peat in the filter to soften it..

Hadn't thought of a figure 8? I briefly saw them on a visit to the shop but havent seen them in there since, just done a quick bit of research, they grow a little bigger?
