Hello all,
I bought 3 GSP from my local fish store today and i'm expectign to get them on Friday.
I currently have a 55 Gal brackish tank. My tank water is currently at 1.015-1.017 (i will have to check again tonight to make sure) and has no other fish living in it.
The employee of the store could not tell me how big they were going to be at arrival and in what water type it will be in.
I'm expecting them to be juvenile and in freshwater.
Before i move them in. Should I lower the salinity level and to what?
Thank you
S.

What SG are they at now? How is this tank cycled? If I were you, I'd only take the 2 healthier/more personable ones. They will grow to the size of a Nerf football. A 55g became too small for my 2.

Re: Before i get my GSP
Thank you for the quick reply.
I haven't check my SG level in the past couple of days since the tank is empty. It should be around 1.015 to 1.017. Up until last month i had 1 fully grown
columbia shark living in this brackish enviroment (raised from juvenile). I sold the shark to a LFS.
So, not more than two GSP fro my 55 gal...
And what about moving him in a brackish tank right away?

Re: Before i get my GSP
If the tank is empty of fish for more than 48 hours it isn't cycled anymore, unless you have been adding an ammonia source. You can drip-acclimate the puffers from FW-BW.

Awesome great info thanks.
I have time before i get them so I will bring down my water salinity and i'll transfer some mollies from my other tank and keep the water ready and cycled.
thank you very much for your help

Re: Before i get my GSP
Whoa. You need to cycle it properly, adding mollies to do the job is cruel. Check out our fishless cycling article.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly
