Shy pufferfish

Post by joannefrost »

Hi, I have had my Stars and Stripes puffer now for 3 months. He seems really happy and friendly and I've not had too many issues with him, apart from a bout of white spot a month or so ago. However, I have begun to notice that he will not come out when other people are in the room, he refuses to take food off anyone other than me. He has been like this from day 1, and it's making things difficult when I go out and my family try to feed him for me. With me he is fantastic happy and sociable and eats really well. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Is there anything anyone can suggest?

I have encountered this issue previously with SAP's if the food allows try to use something like turkey baster or something else you can hold the food with. Soon they learnt to associate food with the device and would eat anything that came from it regardless of who fed them. This technique was particularly useful when feeding medicated food that previously a struggle.
