Re: gsp filtration
Its not a requirement, but your system will benefit more from with live rocks. I treat HOB and canister filters the same as live rocks, except those filters need regular cleaning every 1-2 weeks. What kind of filter and equipment do you have or plan to have with SW?
Kind regards,
Terrance

I have no plans i just need to make them feom the knowledge I'm acquiring. Just got a gsp, traded in my f8 it was too sickly i couldnt stand having a puffer die on me, rather them. (Lfs) .. i have a regular aqueon filter in brackish 1.002 right mot gradually will increase it. I'm just trying to plan ahead.

What was wrong with your f8? It looked ok from the vids/pics you posted. If you tried treating it, it may have gotten better... I didn't see any hospital post for your f8, I'm sure everyone here could have helped you get it back into shape. It will probably die now at the lfs, as they won't do anything for it.defool89 wrote:I have no plans i just need to make them feom the knowledge I'm acquiring. Gl with the GSP, from my experience they are harder to take care of and more demanding then f8s.

Re: gsp filtration
you should just setup a saltwater tank, cycle it, then drip acclimate your gsp to salwater. as you setup the saltwater tank, you can keep your gsp in freshwater and have easier time doing the water change.
PITA to convert a from fresh to salt with a gsp in the tank.

I didn't find it to be much trouble to convert from FW-BW-SW within 2 years time.

Some clouding is normal, just wait for all the particles to settle.

Re: gsp filtration
Add filter floss to your filte4r, it will polish our the smaller particles. Keep changing out when it gets clogged. I keep some in all my filters.
