Snail question (for Figure Eights)

Post by Trinity »

I am starting to take the steps to get ready for a couple puffers. I have a ten gallon aquarium set up for fifty red ramshorn snails that will be arriving on Tuesday. I am planning on them being the main source of food for the puffers. I want to make sure I have enough snails before we bring them home. For a figure eight fed primarily on snails, how many do they usually consume in a week?

It really does depend on their size, a 10 g snail breeder should provide enough snails for about 80% of his diet, provided you maintain the 10g to a high standard.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

i find that my two figure 8 puffers eat roughly 5-10 snails each a day. and that is not there only food source they also eat ghost shrimp and blood worms, and i like to throw some mealworms in there as a treat so you should probably plan on at least ten a day for each puffer.
