There will likely be a route problem causing the algae, of you can find that you will solve the problem. Products like that just tend to mask the problem tbh.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

And they can run the risk of poisoning and killing your fish, especially puffers due to them being scaleless which makes them highly sensitive to additives in the water.
WARNING: Puffers are mischievous little blimps with enchanting powers. You may not be content with having just one.
